Getting to know Miss Springs 2025: Ashley Joubert’s story
After years of dedication, 19-year-old Ashley Joubert proudly claimed the Miss Springs 2025 crown at Die Agterplaas. Her journey from shy teen to confident queen comes full circle as she follows in the footsteps of her coach and former titleholder, Bejandri Lourens.
Ashley Joubert’s Miss Springs 2025 victory is a testament to the saying, “third time’s the charm”. She first entered the pageant in 2022 under the Miss Springs Teen division.
In 2024, she competed in the Miss Springs category, where she won the Miss Springs Photogenic title before claiming the main crown at this year’s event, held at Die Agterplaas on October 25.
Her win was also a full-circle moment for the 19-year-old, as the crown was passed down from her modelling coach, Miss Springs 2024 Bejandri Lourens.
“When they called my name, I couldn’t believe it. I asked myself, ‘Did I hear correctly?’ and all I remember was Bejandri waving the sash at me. I will never forget that moment,” she said.
Ashley shared her reflections on her Miss Springs win, her journey in modelling, and the impact she hopes to make in the Springs community. Her family moved from Benoni to Springs when she was nine years old. She began modelling at 15.

“I started modelling because I wanted to build my self-confidence, and it has helped me grow and become a better version of myself. Although pageants are stressful on the day, I love the adrenaline rush they bring,” she said.
For the first two years, she attended a modelling school, which she later left to be coached by Bejandri. She now works as Bejandri’s assistant coach.
“Modelling under her guidance changed me for the better. I felt more confident about my modelling career,” she said.
“I am most passionate about health and safety. It’s something I have always wanted to do. It’s a big dream of mine to bring comfort to people who need it,” she said.
Ashley reflected on her best memories, the challenges, and how she overcame them.

“The best memory I have from the pageant is the day of the photoshoot. I believe it brought us closer. All the girls are amazing, they have beautiful personalities and work hard.
“Although along the way you may meet people who try to bring you down, the best thing is to stay calm and stay true to who you are,” she said.
She describes herself as bubbly and talkative, a personality trait that shone during the interview. Ashley attended Laerskool Christiaan Beyers and Hoërskool Hugenote.
She expressed her gratitude for her family’s support throughout her modelling career. Her grandmother, Theresa Swanepoel, said, “I am proud of how far she has come. It’s been a hard road for her, and I have watched her grow.

“She was a shy child. She didn’t have much confidence, but since starting modelling, she has blossomed into this confident young lady.”
Ashley says she hopes to drive change in her community during her time as Miss Springs. Driven by the motto, “Be the change you want to see in others,” she said.
“Although I may not change the whole of Springs alone, I can play a small part in making a difference by helping people in need.”
She encouraged fellow residents to work together to make a lasting change. Ashley also shared her plans and goals.
“I see myself achieving my dream of becoming a health and safety officer and building a career from it. Most importantly, I want to continue being a good example to my sisters, Tamron (15) and Hailey (5),” she concluded.
