WW1 guns transported to Springs Military and Mine Museum for restoration

Two WWI artillery pieces were moved from Boksburg to the Springs Military and Mining Museum, where they will soon be restored after years of planning.

Two military guns were transported from the WW1 Boksburg Town Hall to the Springs Military and Mining Museum for display on December 1.

After years of negotiations with the CoE, the transfer was finally approved, much to the delight of the museum’s founder, Tony da Cruz.

Joker Towing of Brakpan, which has worked with the museum before, sponsored the relocation with a crane truck.

“The guns were loaded and placed at the Springs museum. Restoration efforts will soon begin,” Da Cruz said.
