Tennis South Africa relaunches Amex National Club Championships with bigger 2026 season
The competition will start with the district finals in February and will be followed by the provincials before the national finals in Sun City in September.
Tennis South Africa (TSA) has announced the return of the American Express (Amex) National Club Championships next year.
Over 450 clubs from across the country contested this year’s competition, which was won by Wembley Tennis Club from the Eastern Cape.
The new season will begin in February with district competitions hosted in Tshwane, Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Cape Town, Winelands, Eden, Gqeberha, and East London.
Provincial tournaments will follow in both A and B divisions across all nine provinces. The provincial winners will progress to an all–expenses–paid national final at Sun City from September 4 to 7.

Each club team will consist of four players – two men and two women – with ties contested in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles formats.
At the national finals, which will feature the nine provincial A division winners and three wildcard entries from historically disadvantaged communities, over R200 000 in prize money will be awarded.
TSA general manager Anthony Moruthane commended the success of this year’s edition and called for greater participation in 2026.
“Club tennis lies at the heart of community tennis in South Africa, driving participation and passion nationwide. It provides the foundation on which the sport is built, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to compete, connect, and grow,” he said.

“Through the American Express National Club Championships, TSA aims to strengthen this important pillar of the game, ensuring that the spirit of tennis continues to thrive across every community in the country.
“We encourage more clubs to take part in 2026, as this competition is vital to growing and sustaining tennis at the grassroots level.
“TSA extends its sincere gratitude to American Express for its continued sponsorship and support of the championships, which ensures that club tennis remains a vibrant and integral part of the sporting landscape,” Moruthane added.
Atlasville Tennis Club won the Ekurhuleni leg this year and represented the region at the provincial finals at Groenkloof Tennis Club in Pretoria.
