Strong semi-final hopes for Springs Old Boys junior teams

The Springs Old Boys’ Cricket Club praised local schools for providing facilities, as most of its junior teams push for semi-final qualification.

With just weeks left in the season’s second half, the Springs Old Boys’ (SOB) Cricket Club is celebrating its junior teams’ outstanding performances.

The club said that without local schools generously providing fields for matches and practice, this success would not have been possible.

“Thank you to the Veritas Private College, Hoërskool Hugenote, the Birnell College, laerskole Christian Beyers and Pam Brink, and Pinegrove and Strubenvale primaries for their support.

“Your willingness to sacrifice field space has given our players invaluable opportunities to compete and improve,” the SOB said in a statement shared with this publication.

The SOB stated that eight out of 10 of the junior teams have a strong possibility of qualifying for the semi-finals.

“The SOB expresses appreciation to our chairperson, Lional Joubert and junior chairperson and head coach of the U14 Impala team, Rudolph Lizemore. Their hard work, leadership, and determination played a crucial role in making this success possible,” the SOB said.

The club thanked the volunteers, the parents who stepped forward as coaches and team managers, and the rest of the SOB committee.

“We see you and appreciate you, and are grateful for everything you do for our young players and the future of our club. Together, we are building more than cricket teams, we are building character, community and opportunity,” the SOB concluded.
