Third suspect arrested in Captain Wynand du Toit murder case

Springs SAPS have confirmed the arrest of a 56-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of Captain Wynand du Toit in Geduld last year. The suspect faces charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The Springs SAPS has confirmed the arrest of a third suspect in connection with the murder of Captain Wynand du Toit.

According to police spokesperson, Sergeant Charity Zwane, the suspect was arrested on February 13 in Thembisa.

The 56-year-old is facing charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

“The case was postponed to March 5,” she said.

Du Toit was killed in a shootout in Geduld in February last year.

Two suspects were arrested that day. One was apprehended at Pholosong Hospital, and the other fled to Evander, in Mpumalanga, to seek medical attention for the gunshot wounds sustained during the shootout.

He was pursued all the way to Evander, where he tried to escape and was arrested.
