Casseldale burglary suspect in cuffs
The Springs SAPS confirmed that a previous burglary case was opened.

A man was arrested on January 11 following a burglary at a home along Broom Road in Casseldale.
A second perpetrator is still sought by the police. According to Sergeant Themba Tshabalala from Springs SAPS, the complainant alleged that she went to her brother’s house that day to take him food when the incident occurred.
“When she arrived, she tried to get hold of her brother, who was not answering his phone,” said Tshabalala.
“While she waited, the neighbour’s gardener across the street told her that two men had jumped the fence and entered the house, but they had not come out.”
Tshabalala stated that the complainant asked the neighbour to accompany her inside the house, and as they proceeded, they saw that the front door was open.
“They noticed the sliding door had been taken off the rail and forced open,” said Tshabalala.
“As they entered the house, they heard people talking and encountered two unknown men.” Tshabalala said one of the intruders hit the neighbour with a steel rod and then instructed his accomplice to shoot him.

In the meantime, the complainant took out her phone to take a video, but the first man grabbed it, threw it to the floor, and smashed it with the steel rod.
According to Tshabalala, when the complainant’s brother arrived, he told her the pair had previously broken into his house on January 4.
A case was opened by the brother at that time.
The Springs SAPS confirmed that investigations are underway as they suspect the duo may be linked to another crime in the area.
