Springs police operation leads to arrest and recovery of high-value items

EMPD officers seized printers and equipment linked to theft cases during a targeted operation in Springs.

EMPD Community Liaison Unit officers, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, conducted an intelligence-driven operation on April 4 in Springs.

It resulted in the arrest of a 66-year-old man and the recovery of suspected stolen property valued at approximately R120 000.

According to the EMPD, the operation was initiated following intelligence received on April 1 from crime intelligence within the Ekurhuleni district regarding an individual allegedly in possession of stolen printing equipment in the Springs area.

“At approximately 13:00, the team executed the operation at a residence on Stock Road in Endicott. Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect, who cooperated and led members to the location where the items were stored,” said the metro police.

Three high-value printers and a DVR recorder were recovered on the premises. Preliminary investigations indicate that the recovered items are linked to cases reported in Alberton and Booysens.

The EMPD stated that the suspect was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and was detained at the Springs Police Station, where they were expected to appear before the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
