Epilepsy SA beneficiaries celebrate Heritage Day through food and dance
The beneficiaries at Epilepsy SA celebrated Heritage Day, where they got a sense of different cultures through dances and eating traditional food.
Epilepsy SA in East Geduld held a Heritage Day celebration for its beneficiaries on September 23.
Organiser and social worker Steven Matamela told the Springs Advertiser that the Heritage Day celebration gave the beneficiaries a sense of understanding their roots, where they come from, their customs, languages, food and traditional clothing.
He said it was a great day with beneficiaries coming out in numbers wearing different traditional clothes, such as Ndebele, Zulu, Sotho, Pedi, and VhaVenda.
Matamela added that they showcased different cultural dances, where the beneficiaries sang and danced.
“Together we also enjoyed different traditional meals such as Mashonzha (mopane worms) and dumplings, which were prepared by the organisation,” he concluded.
