Substation fire cuts power across several Springs suburbs
The City of Ekurhuleni says the technicians are on site following a fire that has left Springs with no power.
The City of Ekurhuleni announced that it is aware of the power outage currently in Springs.
The outage is affecting the following areas:
- Bakerton
- Payneville
- Gugulethu
- Slovo Park
- Springs CBD
- Petersfield
- Strubenvale
- Casseldale
- Nuffield
- Edelweiss
- Selection Park Ext 2
- Portions of Daggafontein
- Largo
The city said that preliminary investigations indicate that the outage is linked to a fire incident involving a transformer at the substation.
“The Fire Department responded promptly and has successfully extinguished the fire. Technicians are currently on site conducting detailed assessments to determine the extent of the damage and the impact on the network,” explained the city.
At this stage, estimated restoration time is not yet available.
