Wheelers did well

Cyclists from Springs Wheelers all finished the Jober2C race

Cyclists from Springs Wheelers took part in the recent Joburg2C Cycling Tour.

The first Wheeler to finish was Matthew Carlson followed by Alan Glutz and Jason Adams.

The journey started on April 25, from Heidelberg and finished in Scottborough on Saturday.

The cold crisp weather of Gauteng down to Frankfort over the Vaal River on the world’s longest bumpiest floating bridge, did not stop these cyclists.

“The next stop was Reitz where a tummy bug invaded the camp and laid lots of cyclists low,” says Ray Roodt.

On to Sterkfontein Dam then Winterton, Glengary, Underberg, Jolivet and then the finish.

Ray adds the 890km over nine days ended with a wonderful swim in the sea.

Springs Wheelers riders all finished with minimal injuries and all in high spirits.

Springsite George Bester, who is not a club member, has been riding with the Wheelers for the last few months.

According to Ray he did not finish as he had a bad fall on day eight and was too hurt to continue.
