Veritas College’s hockey team excels
Veritas College's first hockey team recently beat Reddam 4-3 in the Chairman's Cup final.
“The tournament served as the first round of provincial trials,” says coach Damian Berluti.
Claudio Jardim, Mpho Ditle, Nikola Matic, Callen Schmid and Leandro Leitao progressed to the next round after these trials.
“Well done to Claudio Jardim for making the Eastern Gauteng u-18 side and for participating in the Inter Provincial Tournament,” adds Damian.
The first team had a great season in the league and also won the Promotion League.
Damian says they beat Hoërskool Hugenote 1-0 in the semi-final.
“We went up against the league leaders, Hoërskool Jeugland, in the finals,” he adds.
Damian says the boys showed their most mature performance of the season as they beat Jeugland 1-0 to become Promotion League champions.
