Striking Winter League Championships

Golfers enjoyed the sunny weekend weather to show off their skills on the golf course in the Winter League Championships at Springs Country Club.

Bennie de Lange, club captain, says 77 players entered the three men’s divisions.

Delano Kotze was the winner of the A Division with 150 gross points while his runner-up Morne du Plessis obtained 155 gross points.

Bennie de Lange took best nett with 147 points while José Carrazan took best net Saturday with 74 points and Byron Snyman took best nett Sunday.

In the B Division Deon Kotze came out tops with 169 gross points.

The runner-up was Paul Ditshego with 170 gross points with the best nett which was obtained by Leon Lubbe with 146 points on count out.

Saturday’s best nett was taken by Tshepo Mthimunye with 69 nett points and best net Sunday was taken by Juan Greyling with 72 nett points.

Connie Wild made sure of his win in the C Division with 186 points, followed by his runner-up Brendon Keogh with 189 gross points.

Taking the best net on the day was Gerrie Sadler with 146 points.

During this game the best nett Saturday player saw Wikus Nel as the winner with 74 points and the best nett Sunday winner was Piet de Wet with 72 points.

Saturday’s nearest the pins were taken as follows:

Sydney Lock at hole two, Chris Nkosi at hole eight, Themba Shoyisa at hole 12 and Josiah Sishange at hole 15.

The Sunday’s nearest the pin winners were Jaco Very at hole eight and Jacques Nel at hole 15.

Five female golfers played for silver and copper positions and the results are as follows:

Ilana Prinsloo won the Silver Division with 181 gross points in the Individual Stableford competition between hole zero and 18.

It was a good win for Bertie Lots who won the Copper Division with 60 points, while her runner-up Rentia de Wet obtained 50 points.

Third place saw Gilliam Dunn with 49 points and Hester Made with 46 points in the Copper Division.
