Rio Grappling Club going for gold

Two fighters from the Rio Grappling Club in Springs, recently competed at the Gauteng Provincial Championships' third leg, in Alberton.

The Gauteng Provincial Championships are hosted three times a year, this being the third and final tournament of the year.

At the last tournament (leg three), the final points are given to each athlete and to each club for the overall winner.

Stefan Pretorius, one of Springs’s professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters, and Kyle Pretorius (11), received gold by winning their divisions on the day.

The clubs are rated by the points scored by the students.

“This was the first leg Kyle and I competed in this year, but our goal as a club is to compete in all three legs next year and chase that number one spot,” says Stefan.
