Ekurhuleni bowling clubs come out to support Springs Town Bowling Club fund-raiser
Weather co-operates as Springs Town Bowling Club host fund-raiser.

The Springs Town Bowling Club held their main fund-raiser for the year on Saturday morning.
After a stressful few days of wondering if the day would happen because of the wet weather leading up to Saturday, there was a collective sigh of relief as the sun came out on Saturday morning.
The fund-raiser was sponsored by a local company and was well supported by 22 other bowling clubs from around Ekurhuleni.
Organiser Tokkie Hattingh was grateful for the support shown towards Springs Town Bowling Club.

“The clubs support us every year.
“When you ask they don’t say no.
“There are clubs here from as far away as Heidelberg and Delmas,” says Hattingh.
Besides raising funds for the club, the day was also an opportunity for the club to attract younger players.
“People think bowls is an old man’s marble game, but it’s not.
“I wish I could get the local schools involved.

“It’s a competitive sport and it teaches you how to concentrate, develop a strategy and then follow through.
“It is both an individual sport and you can also play in pairs, trips (three players) and as a team of four,” says Hattingh.
The club also offers free coaching lessons to those interested and your age of fitness levels do not matter.
The oldest member of the club is 92 years old.
