Riders leap to success at Springs Horse Trials
Springs Horse Trials held their annual event at Presidents Park on Sunday.

Organised by Graham and Michelle Winn, with help from several of the horse owners from Winstead Stables, the competition included inter-school sections known as Sanesa.
The organisers say they started preparing the jumping obstacles at the park at the beginning of February.

“The main arenas also had to be levelled and the ground softened and prepared for the horses.
“The Springs Town Council has done a magnificent job of keeping the park mown and the picnic areas under the trees well-trimmed,” says Michelle.
Eighteen-year-old Alida Olivier from Pretoria was ecstatic after she completed her showjumping 70cm round.

“I think this will be my best event for the day.
“I am really happy with my performance because I enjoyed all the jumps.”
The show was well supported by competitors and spectators from all over Gauteng, mainly Kyalami and Pretoria and from as far as Brits.

“While the competition took place a seminar was also held, where officials for the sport were coached. This seminar was led by the top cross-country course designer from Europe, Eric Winter.
“He complimented the show organisers on the lovely venue and confirmed how up to standard it has been maintained,” explains Michelle.
Scotsman Ice Systems sponsored prize money for the winners in each section.
