5km fun run in Eastvale to support young girls

The entry fee for the fun run is a packet of sanitary pads.

There will be a 5km fun run at Laerskool Morester on Saturday to celebrate Women’s Month and collect sanitary pads.

Organiser Donald Sekgobela says as men they need to support young girls with all the issues they face growing up.

“We need to open up as men and talk about things such as menstruation with our daughters.

“They shouldn’t even have to ask us to buy pads. We know it’s going to happen every month,” says Sekgobela.

The entry fee for the fun run is a packet of sanitary pads.

Sekgobela says his aim is to eventually collect 5 000 pads which he will donate to girls in improverished area such as Skoonplaas.

After the walk, there will be aerobics, netball, soccer games and a host of other fun activities for children.
