Preparation pays off for Comrades runner

The 38-year-old is a clinical engineer technician at the Far East Rand Hospital.

It was all sweat, anxiety and body aches but this didn’t stop Unathi Madolo from completing the 89.9km race in 09:51:28 hours. The 38-year-old is a clinical engineer technician at the Far East Rand Hospital. “Running the marathon is a challenge that requires not only physical fitness but mental fitness too,” said Madolo. He has been preparing for this marathon since the beginning of the year.

As part of his training, the Welgedacht resident has been walking to and from work. His passion for running emerged in 2016 as part of his quest for a healthy lifestyle.
This led to him participating in the Soweto Marathon, Sasol Secunda Marathon, Johnson Crane Marathon, Iren Marathon and Om Die Dam Marathon.
