Springs old boy in youth series
Springs old boy Cobus Venter will star in a new local youth drama series, Sterlopers, set to premiere on kykNET in April.
A scene was filmed at Rand Aid Association’s Elphin Lodge retirement village on August 6. The Lyndhurst village was bustling with activity as residents were roped in as extras.
Cobus matriculated at Hoërskool Hugenote in 1996, before going on to study at the University of Pretoria, graduating in 1999.
He has appeared in numerous television series including most major soapies (7de Laan, Generations, Villa Rosa, Egoli and Rhythm City); dramas like Onder Draai die Duiwel Rond, Song vir Katryn and Een Skoenlapper; and comedies like The Coconuts.
Most recently, he played the character of Frederik de Witt in the television drama Donkerland. In addition, he has had roles in several feature films including Hoof of Africa, Stander, Skin, Gargoyle and Tank.
Cobus married actress Estelle Kriek in 2010 and the couple lives in Johannesburg.
