Gambit has some big names in Hollywood staring together in a funny and witty movie. Cameron Diaz, Colin Firth and Alan Rickman is a strange combination.
The film tells the story of Harry Deane (Colin Firth) who is a curator for a arrogant boss. Harry wants to take revenge on his boss and devises an elaborate plan, which can only be pulled off with the help of Texan cowgirl PJ Puznowski played by Cameron Diaz.
Alan Rickman, who played Snape in the Harry Potter movies has earned that angry persona, so playing the stuck up, hated boss in Gambit must have been easy for him.
I found it strange watching Colin Firth play a disgruntled employee in a comedy after watching his amazing performance in The King’s Speech, but after a while I came to like his witty, British sense of humour.
That, coupled with the crude and strong Texan accent of Cameron Diaz makes for some great comedy, even though parts of the plot are predictable and other parts seem to have no real place in the storyline.
For a giggle or two and if you don’t want to have to think about the plot of the movie, or if you are just bored, Gambit is an average movie to watch.
