Captivating read

Title: Dust Author: Hugh Howey Reviewed By: Thabile Mnguni Book review made possible by: Random House Struik Rating: 7/10

If you are into sci-fi and like a sense of dread over whether the world will end or not, then this is for you.

This book will make more sense if you have read his other two books Wool and Shift to complete the trilogy.

Dust is the finale of Wool, the story of Silo, a place that is at risk of complete destruction.

People have been moved to the Silos because the world as they know it has become toxic.

Juliette is now the new mayor for Silo 18 and starts systematically dismantling the rules that have dominated the silos for centuries.

She breaks a big digger out from the very bottom of the silo and uses it to dig across to 17 and rescue Solo and the kids from their isolation in their dead home.

At the same time, she’s trying to figure out how to take down the people in Silo 1 who she thinks are bent on controlling their world.

The book is the final closing in the Silo saga with many twists and turns.

Great descriptive words that paint a vivid picture of a world that is close to ending.
