Time travel in Prague
Book: City of Dark Magic Author: Magnus Flyte Reviewed by: Ryan Ferguson Review made possible by: Penguin Books

“Prague is a threshold to another world – where the fabric of time is thin – a city steeped in blood.”
I first chose this book after reading the blurb.
As soon as I read the word “Prague”, my decision had been made.
City of Dark Magic is the first book in a series and follows protagonist, Sarah Weston.
Sarah is doing her doctorate in musicology, with her main focus being Beethoven – or as she refers to him, LVB.
Sarah receives a mysterious letter asking her to join in a venture to start a museum in the palace in Prague.
Based on her knowledge of Beethoven and his relationship with Prince Lobkowicz, she is asked to be the head scholar in the Beethoven department of the museum.
Obviously, she jumps at the opportunity and is soon jetting off to the mysterious and magical streets of Prague.
This book had me addicted from the first page, and has a lot to offer.
The pages are full of murder, mystery, romance, and even time travel.
I particularly enjoyed how the author managed to cram as much of Prague’s rich history into the pages as he could manage.
I immediately fell in love with the protagonist, her quick wit and snarky sense of humour are everything I look for in a main character.
City of Dark Magic promises to be an enthralling read from start to finish, and it delivers the goods.
I, personally, cannot wait to read the next instalment, City of Lost Dreams.
Please note that this book contains a lot of adult themes and is not suitable for younger readers.
