Pixies send the crowd wild

In the true spirit of rock n roll, thousands of dedicated party animals and die-hard fans descended on Carnival City last Saturday to show their support for Rock on the Lawns.

This highly anticipated event attracted audience members from across Gauteng, with some arriving early in the morning to be first in line once the gates opened.

Of course, having a good time was high on everyone’s agenda and before the first band had even taken to the stage, fans were indulging in a few drinks, letting their hair down and just enjoying themselves.

The festival’s incredible line-up featured some of South Africa’s top bands, including CrashCarBurn, aKing, Prime Circle, Springbok Nude Girls and, the main attraction (insert drum roll)… Pixies.

While each band gave a killer performance, the highlight of the event was definitely the Springbok Nude Girls (whose performance was a tough act to follow) and alternate rock legends, Pixies.

From the moment Pixies took the stage, the festival area became party central and fans went wild as the band thrashed out numbers such as Monkey Gone to Heaven and Where is My Mind.

Despite not actively engaging with the audience, the band’s performance was tight and they played an unforgettable show.

With its lively and festive atmosphere, Rock on the Lawns definitely lived up to its name and, for many, the event was certainly the highlight of the year so far.
