St John’s college defeats St Albans College in nail-biting game on day 2 of festival
St John’s college U19 basketball team recovered after being defeated by St Charles College last night, going on to defeat St Albans in the first match of the day.
Injuries and disagreements did not deter St John’s College’s U19 basketball team from coming out victorious against St Albans College.
On February 20, the teams were the first to meet on court 1 at St John’s College.

St John’s College’s captain Lesego Legoete reflected on the 43–40 win. “It was a bad game at first. We didn’t start off as strongly as we had hoped to, I think because it was our first game of the day, but we closed it off well and won the game, which is the most important aspect.”

St John’s U19 coach Clem Cock said he was proud of his team’s come-back victory. “The team was down most of the duration of the game, but the boys managed to eventually win by two points.
“We had a tough game last night, after being defeated by St Charles College, but that motivated us to make a change, because we were becoming complacent.”
The publication approached St Albans College, but they declined to comment on the game.
