Springs SPCA to receive R50 000 boost from Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels
A R50 000 donation from Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels will help the Springs SPCA secure food supplies and carry out much-needed kennel repairs while supporting staff who care for abused and neglected animals.
Springs SPCA is among four SPCA branches across Gauteng which will receive a share of R200 000 donation from Jacaranda FM’s Good Morning Angels. The branches that will each receive R50 000 are Springs, Midrand, Tshwane and Kempton Park.
The donation will provide immediate relief and much-needed upgrades to help the dedicated teams continue their vital work caring for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals.
“The donation stems from a place of heart and teamwork. Our chairlady, Nikki Meiring, recognising the immense dedication of our staff, reached out to Good Morning Angels. Several of our team members were preparing to participate in the Striders race, and she wanted to ensure they had decent running shoes for the event.
“This small request for the welfare of our hardworking staff touched the Good Morning Angels team, who recognised the broader impact the Springs SPCA has on the community, leading to this incredibly generous contribution,” said the society’s manager, Annecia le Roux.
She explained that although the original request was about shoes, the bulk of the funds will be funnelled directly back into the core operations of the society.
“The majority will be used to secure our food supply, ensuring every animal in our care is well-nourished. Additionally, we will be allocating a portion of the funds toward critical kennel maintenance.

“Keeping our facilities safe, weather-proof, and secure is a constant struggle, and this donation allows us to tackle repairs that have been on our to-do list for some time,” she said.
Le Roux said that no initiative is too small.
“Whether it’s running a race in our name, donating a bag of food, or reaching out to platforms like Good Morning Angels, every action creates a ripple effect,” she said.
She added that this donation represents hope and recognition. It is a reminder that the long hours and difficult hours are valued by the public.
“Financially, it provides us with a much-needed breather, allowing us to focus on our primary mission of preventing animal cruelty without the immediate stress of empty food bowls. It empowers our staff and strengthens our resolve to continue serving the animals of Springs,” Le Roux said.
Speaking about the donation, the host of Jacaranda FM’s Breakfast with Martin Bester said, “For me, donating towards the four SPCAs on behalf of Good Morning Angels is something I could do every single day of my life if I could. It’s a cause very close to my heart. The people who work at SPCAs, the voices for the voiceless, are absolute angels.”
