Pony Club rally receives good attention
The South African Pony Club – Witbank branch held its first rally and a good turn out was seen.

“The purpose of the rally was to recruit members, which was amply supported by articles and a human interest story, in the Witbank News and the Cosmos Gazette. A great big thank you to our local newspaper,” said Patsy Fulton, Witbank Pony Club district commissioner.
There was a total of 14 people that attended the first rally, which took place at Bankenveld Equestrian Centre on January 18 from 10:00.
Extracts from the Parent Book, and from the Pony Club rules (which have been laminated for ease of handling) were read and discussed.
To keep a fresh perspective, Maritha Duvenage, Witbank Pony Club Instructor, and Patsy took turns talking about the do’s and don’ts of Pony Club and questions were dealt with topically.
During the rally, it was decided that the next meet will take place on February 1, at the Bankenveld Equestrian Centre and that the annual subscription would then be paid, so that the road safety test could be done and members could possibly earn their Mucking Out Efficiency Badge.
“We ended with a tour of the yard, as Annie De Beer, Proprietor of Bankenveld Equestrian Centre, showed us the horses,” added Patsy.
Patsy added that it was a great opportunity to share a few hours with likeminded horse lovers, who are all looking forward to the next rally.
