From a man who taught the world many things, Albert Einstein who said “The future starts today.” It is so simplistic yet so easily forgotten, but not Ben Lamprecht.
He started his teaching career about 30 years ago and before becoming the principal at Laerskool Panorama in 2002 he was a teacher in Tzaneen Limpopo.
In his 12 years as principal and throughout his life he has firmly stood fast in God. “We are all privileged to know that the Lord is looking after this school. He is my mentor in life,” said Ben.
He admits that he is still learning himself, as we cross paths with the most unlikely of teacher’s everyday such as being blessed with a birthday cake and a happy birthday song from teachers, and children that appreciate his passion for teaching.
Ben comes from a family of teachers, his father and grandfather were both teachers, and his sister also became teachers. Ben’s wife is a teacher as well. It can be said that he started out in the profession from birth.
“I love teaching, I am honoured to have a great staff, beautiful kids, and supporting parents, even though we have challenges to overcome I know that the Lord is there when things get difficult,” said Ben humbly.
On January 31 Ben celebrated 58 years on earth and the entire Laerskool Panorama shared a part in that celebration.
“Success in teachings depends on you. What you put into it is what you get out,” said Ben speaking to the many young teachers who are starting out. Never lose that passion.
