
On February 14, a couple’s heated argument ended in death for the both of them.
The girlfriend was walking on her way home, along with a friend when the boyfriend approached the two, he asked to speak to her, but she refused.
He followed the two women to the girlfriend’s house, where he demanded to speak to her in private, she agreed to speak with him and the two went off into her room. While walking to the room, the two bickered and argued, the friend that sat alone in the other room heard a gunshot, then another, and then there was complete silence.
The girl feared for her life and locked herself in. Police later arrived on scene and found her in hiding.
The 29-year-old man, formerly identified as Sandy Andries Mngwenya was certified dead on arrival at the scene by the paramedics and the woman who was shot, aged 26, was taken to hospital, she had survived the gunshot. She was admitted to Trichardt Medi Clinic, where she later passed away. She was formerly identified by her next of kin as Mercy Zwane.
Both Zwane and Mngwenya died of being shot in the head.
Police discovered that the alleged murder weapon was a firearm that had been stolen in a burglary committed last year in Matulu, Nelspruit.
Police are currently investigating a case of murder, and an inquest has also been opened.
