Police responded to a call that on February 22 a woman had been found naked and dead on her bed at about 15:00. The suspect allegedly fled without anyone seeing them.
The cause of death is still being investigated. “Prudence was a very quiet child and she was with us the whole week before the incident. On the Friday she decided that she wanted to go to her place in town,” said her aunt, Malupi Mahlangu.
She also said that the family was informed by housemates where Mahlangu stayed, that she had been killed.
“They told us that the ambulance took a while to get to them, maybe she could still be alive,” added the aunt.
Mahlangu had finished her studies and was working between jobs around town to make ends meet. Her father passed away some years ago and she was taken care of by her aunt. They lived with her grandmother in Extension 16.
