It is not the case, as there are women who are being raped at every hour of each day.
Another incident occurred at Old Coronation where a woman and her four-year-old daughter was asleep at her home. It was at 04:00 on March 8 when she was woken up by her little child, who was escorted by an unknown man. He had a gun in his hand. She said the man told her not to scream, for if she did that then he would kill both her and the child. The suspect then told her to cover herself and her child with their blankets. She did as she was told.
The suspect then allegedly asked the woman for all the money she has. Unfortunately, the woman replied to the suspect that she did not have any money. The suspect allegedly became angry and ransacked the woman’s home before raping her. He found a cell phone worth R800 and he took it.
Before the suspect left, the woman said that he then pulled off her pyjama pants and forced himself on her and used her linen sheets to clean himself up after the deed. The suspect then allegedly walked out of her house and left her there with her child still under the covers.
Detectives and crime scene investigators visited the scene. The suspect has not yet been arrested and the woman said she would be able to identify him if she should see him again.
