Young man lucky to be alive
A local skydiver can thank his lucky stars that he can one day tell his grandchildren how he literally fell from the sky.
Mr Brian Boynton, had a skydiving accident on Sunday, April 6 when he was involved in an accident on landing under a fully functional canopy.
Boynton, an experienced skydiver, had just completed an eight-way formation free-fall jump from 10 000ft (3 300m) when the accident occurred.
Boynton was rushed to Life Cosmos Hospital where he was treated for multiple broken bones. On Monday, April 7 he spent a few hours in theatre as doctors worked on his shattered femur.
According to his mom, Ms Sonja Roux, he managed to give her a little smile on Tuesday. “The doctors said they are now going to concentrate on the rest of his broken body. I know that my son will pull through and fully recover,” Ms Roux said.
Ms Roux thanked everyone for all the prayers, messages and support the family has received since Sunday.
