The accident happened on Saturday evening, May 3 at approximately 18:39 in Mandela Drive opposite the Mall.
Mr Michael Phali alleged that he was travelling down Mandela Drive in his Maroon Range Rover towards the highway.
Phali alleged that the robot was green for him, as he approached the robot he could hardly see the pedestrian as he was wearing dark clothes.
As Phali came closer to the robot he tried to swerve out but it was too late and he hit the pedestrian.
Phali called an ambulance immediately as he knew the pedestrian was seriously injured as he was lying in a pool of blood.
Emergency services arrived on scene and the pedestrian was treated on scene for most of his injuries and then taken to Witbank Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
At Witbank Provincial Hospital he was treated for his injuries, but died later that evening in hospital.
By Tuesday, May 6 he still had not been identified.
