Unfortunately for her perpetrator, she pulled through and is alive and well, despite the memory of her traumatic experience.
On April 28 Miss Susan Nhlapo* was attacked in her home at Spring Valley at 01:00. She alleges that a man came and knocked at her door at that time, but as she was alone she did not open the door nor respond to the knock. After some time of knocking the man apparently shouted “If you do not open this door, I will kill you”.
There was then silence and Ms Nhlapo said that she peered through the window and realised that the person had gone. After some time though, she alleges that the suspect returned and this time he did not knock but pushed the door until he managed to break it down.
According to Nhlapo the man then made his way into her bedroom where he found her on the bed and he grabbed and strangled her. She alleges that the man strangled her until she lost consciousness and when she came to, she was soaked. Nhlapo realised she was dripping in bed and as she apparently tried to scream for help more blood came out of her throat. Nhlapo then also realised that her underwear was missing and she came to the conclusion that she had been raped.
Nhlapo was found by neighbours who noticed her open door with no sign of her outside of her house. They then called the police who came to the scene and helped Nhlapo open a case of attempted murder and rape against the suspect. The suspect is not known by Nhlapo.
