On the evening of May 1, Walter’s brother, Riaan (34) was shot in the eye and had to undergo surgery to repair his eye. He was allegedly shot by his neighbour when he looked over the wall into her yard.
On Monday May 5, police revisited the scene and arrested the woman, charging her with attempted murder.
She was taken to Witbank holding cells and spent four nights there, not appearing in court due to the Freedom Day public holiday.
On Friday May 9, the woman charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm without a license, and firing a firearm within municipal boundaries, appeared at Witbank Magistrate Court to apply for bail. Bail was granted and the court date was postponed until July 29 for further investigations.
On the previous visit to the woman’s home in Extension 16, Witbank SPCA gave her a warning that the livestock was not being properly looked after, not given sufficient water and nutrition and that the cages were not properly cleaned.
Witbank SPCA once again visited the home in Ackerman Street, to find that the family living there had a number of dogs which were not being looked after.
The chickens in the chicken coop were not given sufficient water and when SPCA Insp Mpho Mokoena started asking the right questions, the two men there at the house allegedly harassed her, chasing her from the property.
Insp Mokoena visited the Witbank Magistrates Court on Monday, May 12 to acquire a warrant.
