The presentation was held at the church in Extension 5 on Sunday, May 18.
Executive mayor of eMalahleni Cllr Salome Sithole said she was humbled to stand before them and told them about her programme of visiting the local churches. She said she started the programme since 2011 and with the believe that in churches there is order. Her programmes covers elderly people, orphans, people with disability, people living with HIV and Aids.
“I came here with the believe and hope that we need to change our mind set. We need all sorts of skills in eMalahleni, we need engineers, we need to address unemployment, we need to address poverty and we need to address inequality plus the education system. We need to change the way we do things,” said Cllr Sithole.
Executive mayor encouraged pupils in Grade 12 to register early for placement at tertiary schools and that they choose correct subject including mathematics. She also spoke about funds available for students to register provided they have applied.
She thanked the church for the warm welcome and thanked them for doing the right thing by voting during the elections held recently.
“We need to take back our city, report corruption. Let’s be right and do what is right in the eyes of the Lord. I trust and believe that churches will carry me as they have done in the past three years. Thank you for carrying me, it is tough, but because of prayers we carry on delivering to the people,” concluded the mayor.
