Nqubeka, a 32-year-old man, was on his way to work at a depo in Reyno Ridge when he was robbed of his bicycle.
At about 04:30 Nqubeka set out along the Verena Road from his home in Klarinet Extension 6. About 15 minutes later when he neared the large turning circle in the road, three men jumped out from the bushes and brought him to a stop.
The three suspects forced Nqubeka into the nearby woods. While walking into the woods, and without the suspects noticing, Nqubeka dropped his phone. They came to a stop a few minutes later and Nqubeka was searched by the suspects who assaulted him and threatened him with a knife.
“One wanted to stab me but his accomplice said they got the bicycle and should just leave me there,” added Nqubeka.
They also took a torch and bicycle pump and fled deeper into the woods.
“I am not the only person that has been robbed along the road, people must be careful,” ended Nqubeka, who now uses a taxi to get from his home to Reyno Ridge so that he can continue with his work.
