The operations were carried out from June 3 to 9.
On June 8 a 54-year-old man was robbed in his way home. It is alleged he hitch hiked from Ga-Nala to Bethal in the evening after sunset. He got into a yellowish old model car an the occupants told him they were driving to the same direction Bethal, he was surprised on the way when he saw the car driving to the opposite direction Ogies when he asked he was told that they are going to drop off one the occupants just at the Kinross T-junction road and then drive off.
When they reached the bridge they parked the car on the side of the road and threatened the man with a knife, robbed him of R800 and two cellular phones worth R2 000. They then left him in a gravel road stranded. He got assistance from a passer by and laid a charged at the police, a case of Common Robbery.
The police request the community to avoid travelling at night and also refrain from hitch hiking and resort to public transport. Make prior arrangements with the people they are travelling to for transport purpose if there is a delay or any other challenge experienced on the way for safety reasons.
On the same day a 29year-old man was arrested for stock theft.
A shepherd on a farm near Ga-Nala noticed a suspicious car at the kraal farm loading sheep. The Shepard reported the incident to the owner of the farm, they gave a chase and caught the stock thieves on the Albion road. The five sheep were recovered and police arrested a suspect, charging him with stock theft.
The suspect appeared at Kriel Magistrate court on June 10 and the case was postponed to June 11, he was granted R1 000 bail.
