Police are also still investigating the shooting incident at the Wolvekrans Mine, where one of the miners where shot in the arm.
Police could not say more other than the case was still being investigated – and also investigated internally by BHP Billiton.
A case of assault and assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm is currently also being investigated after two security guards were assaulted at Goedehoop Mine by unknown suspects. A mine employee was also assaulted at the Goedhoop plant and told police that two unknown men had attacked him while he was on site.
On Sunday June 8 another robbery was reported in Goedehoop as well. Police stated that two security guards were overpowered and batteries were stolen.
Three suspects arrested by the police for previous accounts of assault appeared in couth on Monday June 9. Tthokozani Lukhele, Thulani Mnguni and Norman Mtsweni received bail of R500 each.
