On July 12 in Extension 8 Mr Solomon Nwadike noticed some three men, one of whom looked familiar.
As he was standing there, the driver of a Golf, which was occupied by three men, called to him and asked him to come closer to the window. Nwadike moved closer as he knew the driver and did not see anything out of the ordinary.
“He asked me to buy him some beer when I went closer, but I told them that I did not have any money on me,” said Nwadike. He alleges that the other two men then got out of the car and surrounded him, demanding that he buy them beers.
Nwadike said that after they pushed him around on the pavement, they forced him into the car. The driver also came out of the car to help his mates push him inside.
“They closed the doors and asked me for some money again. I told them that I do not have any on me and that I can make a plan for them to get money if they let me go,” added Nwadike. The men let him, but not before searching him and taking his possessions.
The stolen items are Nwadike’s wedding band, his Nokia cell phone and R300 in cash. The suspects then allegedly pushed Nwadike out of the car while hurtling insults at him.
“‘Voetsek! Get out, get out!’ is what they were shouting at me when they pushed me out the car. I fell to the ground and they sped off in that car,” said Nwadike.
Nwadike said that he has since moved away to his cousin’s place just outside Mpumalanga because he fears that the suspects might return and terrorise him again.
