Cllr Salome Sithole visited the church together with her team, which included Transversal Unit manager Ms Trudy Xhala Mavimbela and personal assistant Mr Sibusiso Gumede.
They presented blankets to the elderly at the church.
Transversal Unit includes youth, elderly, people living with HIV, children and orphans.
Mayor Sithole encouraged people to stick to their churches and support each other, like members of a family. She asked the members to pray for her and her team. She discouraged members from splitting to form churches, because that will mean more land for churches.

She encouraged young people to stick to their books and to those doing Grade 12 to register early to institutions of higher learning. She said that her office does provide a registration fee, provided they have acquired a place.
“We have a lot of challenges that we are faced with. HIV prevalence is high in eMalahleni, while drug abuse still remains a great challenge among our young people. Young people are the future leaders of our country and education is the key that opens all doors. We need young and educated people in eMalahleni to address our problems.
We have so many opportunities as we are an energy hub,” stated Cllr Sithole.
Mayor also talked about the different programmes under her office, one of which was to assist with school uniforms. She also encouraged residents to have food gardens.
“Thanks for carrying me through with your prayers and thanks for voting during the nation elections, you exercise your rights. We need to get rid of corruption as it undermines democracy. Help to report cases of corruption and help us to deliver service as we promise,” concluded the mayor.
