On Saturday, October 18 a break-in was reported at the KFC Klipfontein branch, after suspects allegedly broke through the roof and into the storeroom of the building.
According to a spokesperson, Ms Gabby du Plessis (CEO) of Roossenekal Foods (PTY) LTD), nothing was taken.
“They tried to break open the drop safe, but luckily weren’t able to do so,” said Du Plessis.
The burglars were seemingly too focussed on trying to get the money from the safe that they did not try to steal any of the stock in the storeroom. “Nothing was taken or contaminated,” Du Plessis assured her customers.
The burglars allegedly fled empty-handed, before security arrived on the scene.
“The roof has been repaired and the safe will be replaced,” Du Plessis ended.
Police are investigating the case as well as several other cases of business burglaries reported this month. Police warn that break-ins might only increase nearing the festive season, and that business owners must take extra precaution.
