The scheduled power outage will take place on November 25 for repairs to be done on the protection equipment.
The electrical protection at Mopanie Substation is in an unacceptable state as there are no current transformers for over current and earth fault protection on the 22KV installation.
This is a network risk as faults happening in the network are not automatically isolated from the healthy network.
Mopanie Substation is situated in the Southern suburbs of Emalahleni City and the areas will be affected during the shutdown power outage from 07:30 to 21:00.
The affected areas are: Tasbet Park Extension 1, 2 and 3, Uthingo Park, Witbank Extension 16 and 41, Formula 1 hotel and parts of Duvha Park.
It is therefore recommended that the network be treated as live during this period.
