The state of eMalahleni’s roads gets worse with every rainy season. It is no longer good enough for residents to report a pothole to the municipality.
The community members of Ward 33 have gone the extra mile to make their roads safer.
“The roads have reached such a state that driving from point A to point B has become a total nightmare for motorists. Defensive driving tactics have to be applied and vigilance becomes a priority,” said the statement issued by Ward 33 committee.
It goes on to say, “The degradation of the roads is of great concern and to add salt to the wound, the recent rainfall has widened and deepened most of the already hazardous ditches.”
Ward 33 which includes Extensions 5, 8, 16, 18, and 41 has signed a petition that was handed over to the administrator.
The residents are in dire need for their roads to get repaired. Some roads are so badly damaged that they recommend it be re-tarred completely.
“The ward committee now awaits a response from the administrator, hoping that this problem will receive the urgent attention that it deserves,” concluded the statement.
