No tar and paving in two streets for more than 32 years

Residents of two streets in Ackerville said they have been complaining about their roads not being tarred or paved, but nobody seems to care.

Some residents of Sonny Ndala and Owen Mlisa streets have been staying there for more than 32 years. Most of the other streets in Ackerville have been tarred or paved except for these two.
“We believe somebody somewhere does not like us, we have raised the issues of our streets a long time ago, but we get promises and no action.

Most of the people who complained have long died and we are still with promises and streets without tar or pave,” said one of the residents.
The people have contacted one of the officials at the municipality, who promised them that the issue will be raised with city administrator Mr Theo van Vuuren and it will be placed as a community project.

Residents were promised that materials to tar or pave the streets will be bought by the end of this month, work will start after that.
“We took the word of the official and we believe that at last the streets will be tarred or paved. We struggle every time it rains, and the roads have been damaged. Water just flow into yards every time it rains, why us?”

Residents were told that to tar the two streets will cost about R2-million. Surveys will start and thereafter a team will be appointed.
