A sudden death on narrow road
The road leading towards Paxton prison is narrow and winding with not a street lamp in sight.
This was the scene of a head-on collision when the driver of a vehicle tried to overtake and collided with a bus.
On Wednesday, April 21 at about 18:00 emergency services arrived on the scene where they found the green Volkswagen Polo crushed underneath the bus, while the other vehicle stood damaged on the side of the road.
According to several witnesses, the driver was apparently trying to overtake a black VW Polo on the winding, dimly lit road. When the two vehicles came around the corner, the car travelling in the wrong lane allegedly tried to speed up to pass the car, but the bus was too close and they collided head on.
The bus then apparently tried to turn and hit the black Polo as well.
The deceased driver has not yet formally been identified. The other drivers involved did not sustain any serious injuries.
