On Saturday, April 25 a woman told her boyfriend that she was no longer interested in their relationship, and he is no longer welcome to visit her.
The 24-year-old woman was at her farmhouse with her siblings, when her ex-boyfriend arrived to visit her. The man refused to leave and started to threaten her. The complainant ran out and when she looked back, she saw flames coming out of her bedroom.
The 34-year-old attempted to flee the scene with his grey Audi but was unsuccessful. He was charged with arson and appeared in Kriel Magistrate’s Court on April 28. The case has been postponed to May 4 for a formal bail application.
