Ms Busi Nxumalo was on her way to work early on Tuesday morning when her handbag was snatched from her, the suspect was nabbed shortly afterwards by a businessman from Magic Pluming and his team.
The incident happened on May 19 at approximately 08:45 on the corner of Amsterdam and OR Tambo Street.
She was waiting at Amsterdam Street for a friend who she normally walks with to her place of work in Die Heuwel.
A 22 year old man with dreadlocks came running from behind her and stole her handbag.
The businessman who was at the robot at the time heard a woman scream, then he noticed the suspect running down Lana Street with a handbag, he immediately gave chase and his team shortly followed.
The suspect was apprehended in an open field in Gerda Street and he still had the handbag in his possession.
“He did not steal anything from my handbag,” said Nxumalo.
The suspect is originally from Midrand, the police were called to the scene and the suspect was taken to Witbank Police Station.
