They were arrested on Tuesday, May 26 after admitting to the murder which took place in Duvha Park Extension 9 on Thursday, May 21. They appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 1 on charges of murder. Police were on the lookout for a Ford Fiesta which was recovered in Hammanskraal, Pretoria.
Witbank Police drove to Hammanskraal on Tuesday afternoon, May 26, after they got word that it might be the vehicle they are looking for. The passengers of the vehicle allegedly admitted to visiting the deceased on the night of her death, and killing her after an alleged fight broke out, while they were drinking.
The body was identified on Thursday, May 28, by her sister Molly Malukane. Her sister stated that the last time she saw Rejoice was over the Easter Weekend as she lives in Kempton Park.
She did not have a close relationship with her sister as they spoke regularly over the phone but did not see each other often. The last time they spoke was on Wednesday, May 20.
“I don’t have much to say about my sister as we did not see each other too often. The person who killed her is a member of my family,” Molly said after her sister’s death.
Malukane had multiple stab wounds over her body and she was strangled with a wire, which cut her throat.
Her employer called the police when she did not pitch for work for three days. There was no forced entry into the house and police found her body lying in the passage in her own blood.
Stolen from the house of the deceased were two cars, a Ford Fiesta and a Polo. Police recovered the Fiesta but are still looking for the Polo.
If anyone has any information or has seen the Polo with registration number HBJ 513 MP please contact Col Reymond Talmakies on 071 575 8583.
*Rejoice Mankala Malukane’s burial was held on Saturday, May 30 in Limpopo.
