On Friday, May 29, Mr Mzwandile Thokwane sat for almost half an hour in his bathroom waiting, as robbers carried their loot from his house.
Thokwane said he arrived at his home, in Highveld Park, at around 11:00 on Friday.
“At around 11:30 I sat watching TV,” Thokwane said and recalls clearly how he heard the sound of wood cracking before he heard the footsteps racing towards him.
“I immediately looked down,” Thokwane said. One of the suspects told him not to look at them, and fearing for his life, Thokwane obediently followed the suspects to the bathroom where he was told to stay.
Thokwane was uncertain how many suspects were in his house, but said that they were ‘gentle’ and didn’t try to hurt him.
He waited for a while in the bathroom to make sure the suspects were gone before he risked coming out.
Expecting to find his home in a chaotic mess, Thokwane was surprised by how neatly the robbers left the house.
“The only mess was in the bedroom where it seemed they struggled to get the TV off the wall.”
The robbers stole electric appliances, two TVs and a cell phone.

Two days prior to this incident a house robbery was also reported in Model Park. A domestic worker told police that she was alone working in the house when she saw a silver vehicle pull up in front of the gate. She said that one of the occupants in the car got out to open the gate with a pick.
The four suspects then quickly gained entrance into the house. One was allegedly armed with a firearm and forced the worker into one of the bathrooms, locking her in.
The owner of the house later found the domestic worker in the bathroom upon returning home.
A case was opened at Witbank Police Station. No arrests had yet been made.
