The family of Jiyane in Vosman has had their share of overflowing sewerage in their yard.
According to the family the sewerage has been flowing for the past week and they have phoned the municipality only to be told that, the workers were on strike. After that the family were promised that workers will come and fix it but they have not done so.
The sewerage comes flowing from inside the yard and another one outside the yard near the corner of a busy street. It started with the one outside flowing down the busy street near the Sinqobile Community Hall. The sewerage was found flowing on Saturday, July 18, while a concert was held in the nearby hall.
The family said they could not bear the smell and the dirty smelly water flowing in the yard and outside. The family is concerned about their health and that of their neighbours about the free flowing sewerage water.
Sewerage and faeces were found flowing down the road in Vosman. “We hope they will fix it before anyone becomes sick. This is a health hazard and we are hopeless as we cannot fix the problem, we hope they keep their promise,” said a family member.
