New mayor inaugurated

The new mayor also outlined her vision for the municipality that includes Emalahleni Local Municipality becoming among the best service delivery centres in South Africa

Following the changes in the political administration of the municipality, Cllr Lindiwe Ntshalintshali was sworn in recently and set her vision for the future of Emalahleni during her inaugural address.

The lavish inauguration ceremony was held on Friday, August 14 at the City Hall. In her inaugural address, Cllr Ntshalintshali emphasized the importance of collective work; how in her term she would have succeeded if she’d look back and see a community that knows their responsibility and plays their role.

The new mayor also outlined her vision for the municipality that includes Emalahleni Local Municipality becoming among the best service delivery centres in South Africa. Her additional goals include doing away with corruption and working in segregation. She addressed most of the municipality’s weaknesses and threads which had caused for poor service delivery in previous years.

“There is nothing wrong about our municipality that cannot be cured”, she said. “All of us have a duty in the progression of our municipality; by paying services and adopting a positive attitude.”

The new executive committee consists of: Busi Hlumbane (Technical Services), Lesley Nhlapho (Development Planning), Thandi Mokoena (Corporate Services), Derrik Skhosana (Community Services), Bongane Nkosi (Finance), and Hessie Maseko.
